High pollution location
The Home Quality Mark One, Technical Manual SD239, England, Scotland & Wales, published by BRE in 2018 suggests that:
Any developments where any portion of the site is within a local authority air quality management area (AQMA) are automatically considered to be high pollution locations. For developments that are wholly outside of an AQMA, the following levels define high pollution locations: NOx= >15μg/m³ averaged over a year. PM10 = >10μg/m³ averaged over a year. Where the ambient emission level for either pollutant exceeds the high threshold, the development is considered to be in a high pollution area. |
A low pollution location is any location that does not meet the definition of a high pollution location.
